Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great first full week of school:)  Students were excellent and we loved seeing all of your happy faces in the halls again!

We need ALL students to return their forms to the office or a teacher! 

Please remember that there is no running, jumping or screaming in the halls.  These types of behavior will receive consequences. Lunch detentions will start being handed out for students not following the inside expectations for behavior.  8th graders should NOT be in the 7th grade hallway!

ALL students must keep their cell phones in the provided pouch.  Students who forget their pouch more than 3 times in a quarter will receive a lunch detention.  Click here to read the parent letter that was mailed home before school started.

Parents cannot bring delivery lunch to students, and students are not allowed to DoorDash food to school.  Parents are more than welcome to check out their child for lunch with no attendance ding during their lunchtime.  Students will be marked unexcused absent if they miss AcLab.

Band Instrument Rental Night on Monday August 31st from 4:30pm to 6:30pm

Our first dance will be on September 11th from 3:00-5:00.  Students must have 90% attendance to attend.  This means that students who will have missed 3 or more days (excused or unexcused)  by this date, will NOT be allowed to attend.

Please familiarize yourself with the district attendance policy sent via parent square and SMORE newsletter.  Students are only allowed to miss 12 days per year (doctor’s notes or not) before summer school kicks in. Improving school attendance is a BIG focus this year!  Please make every effort to be here every day possible. Click here for the official attendance letter for parents.

If parents or guardians have classroom concerns, they must reach out to the classroom teacher first via email, phone or conference.  If the issue cannot be resolved, then parents may make an appointment with the principal or assistant principal to discuss the situation further.

There will be an informational parent meeting for 8th graders interested in going to Washington, DC, in May on Wednesday, September 16, at 6:00 pm in the PBJHS gym.  See Mrs. Moncier in room 207 for details.

Before School (7:00-7:30am) *You can not be released from the gym after 7:15am.

AcLab (Teachers have AcLab passes if you're coming for the whole time)

After School (3:00-4:00pm) *Starting after Labor Day! Tutoring available! You must have a ride home!

School starts at 7:30 each morning.  Please arrive on time!  The doors open at 7:00 AM

All students who are being dropped off MUST use the crosswalk to cross the parking lot into the building.

Do NOT weave in and out between cars and buses.

Bus riders are dismissed at 2:55 each day or as soon as the buses arrive from MS.  Car riders and walkers are dismissed after buses leave the lot.  Parents will form three lines in the car rider lanes.  Students crossing over to FBC will be assisted by Officer Huddleston. If students miss the crossing time, parents will need to pick them up at the JH.

No pickups or drop offs in the back parking lot.  All students need to enter and exit through the front of the building.

PBJHS is participating in Pepsi Mid America's Collect the Caps, Collect the Cash competition, and we need your help. Save the specially marked lime green bottle caps from participating products and bring them to PBJHS. You can drop them in the big box in the lobby by the front offices or bring them to the library! 

If we're one of the winning schools, every dollar we receive will go directly toward our library and the reading incentive programs that benefit our students. Start saving those green caps—every cap counts! 

STUCO and future STUCO members, 

8th grade STUCO: If you were a member of STUCO last year, you do not need to fill out a new application. If you are an 8th grader who was not in STUCO last year and would like to join, applications are in my classroom #105 in the new building. Please turn in applications to Mrs. Berry in #105 or Mrs. Magill in #106 in the new building. 

7th grade: If you would like to be a member of STUCO, come by room #105 in the new building to pick up an application. Please turn in applications to Mrs. Berry in #105 or Mrs. Magill in #106 in the new building. 

ALL APPLICATIONS ARE DUE ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11TH! 

School pictures will be taken Friday, September 4th.  Information on how to order can be found on Facebook or your child received a paper order form. 

Every 8th grader must have their 8th grade shots on file! If you have not done that yet, please take care of it this week.  After September 15th, students who do not have their up-to-date immunizations or an appointment card will not be allowed to attend school until they receive 

them.

 If you are eating breakfast in the morning, you must enter through the gym and head straight to the cafeteria.  Once seated, students cannot get back up. 

Students, please make sure you are keeping your table clean and your trash picked up in the cafeteria.  Remember to use the stairs to your left as you exit the lunchroom.

Tutoring will begin after the Labor Day break.  A letter with information will be emailed to parents this week.  Tutoring begins the week of September 11th on campus from 3:00-4:00 PM Monday-Thursday.  Please click this link to enroll your child.

The handbook quiz will be this Friday in your Academic Lab.  You should all be reading and going over all the procedures and policies.  The group with the most correct points will win house points to start off the year. Click here to access the handbook

Be sure to check out our positive referral board by the attendance office!  Each time a student earns a positive referral, it will be posted on the board in the house that the student belongs to.
