Poplar Bluff Junior High School serves students in grades 7 and 8 on a historic campus that has been a cornerstone of the community for nearly a century. Originally established in the 1930s, the Junior High has been thoughtfully modernized over the years while preserving the character and tradition of its historic grounds. A major FEMA-funded addition in 2016 added more than 20,000 square feet to the campus — including a storm-safe gymnasium designed to withstand an F5 tornado — and a brand-new 8,700-square-foot Activity Center opened in 2024, featuring state-of-the-art classroom spaces, a multipurpose room, and a fully equipped weight room.
As a Capturing Kids' Hearts school, PBJHS places relationships at the center of everything — creating a safe, positive environment where students feel connected and motivated to succeed. We are proud to be a Power of ICU school, where every student completes every assignment, every day, and our house system builds a sense of community and responsibility that extends well beyond the classroom.
Academically, PBJHS offers Project Lead the Way design and engineering electives alongside a rigorous core curriculum, and our staff collaborates daily as a Professional Learning Community to ensure every student receives the instruction and support they need to grow. At Poplar Bluff Junior High, we honor where we've been while always looking forward — for every student, every day.
