Building Good Habits in our PBJHS Mules

At PBJHS, our mission is simple but important: “Building up, looking forward. Together as a community, we equip PBJHS students with the knowledge and confidence to own their future.”
One way we are putting that mission into action is through our 7 Habits of Highly Effective Mules. Each month, we will focus on one habit that can help our students become more confident, responsible, thoughtful, and prepared for what comes next—not just in school, but in life.
As we kick off the month of October this week, our focus is Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind.
To me, this habit is about helping our students understand that the choices they make today help shape the person they become tomorrow. They do not have to have their entire future figured out in 7th or 8th grade, but they can begin thinking about who they want to be, what they want to accomplish, and whether their choices are moving them in that direction.
It also means understanding that mistakes are part of growing. One poor choice does not determine your future. What matters is learning from it, making a better decision next time, and continuing to move forward with purpose.
As we talk about Habit 2 with our students this month, we also hope our families and community will join us. What does “begin with the end in mind” look like in your own life? Whether we are students, parents, educators, or community members, we can all benefit from slowing down, thinking ahead, setting goals, and making choices that lead us toward the future we want.
Building up. Looking forward. One good habit—and one good choice—at a time.

Together, we can impact our future.  I believe together, we can change the world. 🩵 -Mrs. Davis
